Course Info

Detroit Golf Club is going to surrender birdies this week and sometimes its better knowing that going in. Birdies are fun, but just know you’re going to need a lot of them this week from your teams to win a DraftKings Reignmakers contest at ANY tier.

Par 72 playing 7300+ yards with a lot of the distance coming from one long par 5 and some lengthier par 3s. Three of the four par 5s should be reachable for longer hitters meaning eagles are in play. The winning scores from the last four years at this course are Finau -26, Cam Davis -18, DeChambeau -23, and Nate Lashley -25. Streaks of three birdies in a row, bogey free rounds, and all rounds under 70 are all DraftKings bonuses that are very much in play (required) this week.

Golfer Targets

As is always the case, I highlight three golfers I like each week across the odds ranges: Best odds (+2000 or better), mid-range (+2000-9000), and long shots (+10000 and up). Win equity is spread pretty far down the board this week so I’m playing mostly all of my lineups in the GTD contests. I think these contests provide the best opportunity to continue to win back your investment and/or add to your already green return!

Best Odds: Hideki Matsuyama LOW ASK, CORE $9.45, RARE $39.49, ELITE $180

• The top of the board is very interesting this week but no one is striking the ball like Hideki Matsuyama. He’s gained strokes both on approach and ball striking in his last 7 outings dating back to late March. The putter is always going to be a question mark with Hideki but he’ll give himself plenty of chances this week. He ranks 19th on tour in Par 5 scoring so look for him to take advantage of these getable par 5s this week.

Mid Range: JJ Spaun LOW ASK, CORE $1.41, RARE $8, ELITE $52

• JJ Spaun has had a rather up and down season this year but this field reminds me of the kind of field where JJ can show up and play well. I also really like his course history here where he hasn’t missed a cut in four attempts coming in at T8, T32, T30, T18. He’s a really nice ELITE value on DK Reignmakers if you’re looking to strengthen one of your lineups or need an extra to toss in.

Long Shot: Carson Young LOW ASK, CORE $1.56, RARE $9.50, ELITE $59

• Carson Young is someone that stands out to me in a field such as this one. He’s made four of his last five cuts and coming off a T15 at the Travelers where you needed to make birdies. He’s gained strokes ball striking and on approach in 7 of his last 8 outings and gained strokes putting in 8 straight. I like the way the numbers line up for him this week.
